She is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Professional Life Coach and a Licensed Insurance Broker. She is the Founder and President of Affordable Benefits Solutions (ABS), Inc.
Rita’s successful career in the insurance industry began in 1989. With the death of her mother at age 11, a US Postal employee, Rita noticed the dramatic change in her families’ finances. Because of this observation, she has dedicated her life to helping families understand their employee benefits and prepare for their family’s future.
For over 30 years Rita has been helping government employees. She discovered a common thread. She realized that regardless of socioeconomic status; about 80 percent of employees did not understand their Federal employee benefits. This revelation became the driving force for her to develop an easy to read tool to assist government employees in understanding their government benefits. In 2012, Rita’s book “Understanding Your Federal Benefits: for the New Retirement Climate” was released.
Rita is also co-host of the critically acclaimed webinar series Financial Fed Friday; which broadcasts every other Friday at 10am EST and on Facebook Live. The broadcast is designed to pull back the curtains on the Federal Government benefits programs and overall financial knowledge. The team provides financial literacy, an understanding of your government benefits, retirement planning, and alternative investment options. In addition, she conducts a suite of workshops for multiple government agencies including: U.S. Department of Justice, Blacks in Government (BIG), Federally Employed Women (FEW), IRS, EPA, APWU, VA, NTEU, AFGE as well as multiple public and private organizations.
Rita focuses on problem solving surrounding retirement income strategies, insurance planning, budgeting, estate planning and the emotional-financial connection.
